Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced today that Ukrainian armed forces have captured two North Korean soldiers in Russia's Kursk region, adding that they are alive and being interrogated by Ukrainian intelligence services.
"As with all prisoners of war, the two North Korean soldiers are being provided with the necessary medical assistance," Zelensky said on the social media platform 'X'.
Our soldiers have captured North Korean military personnel in the Kursk region. Two soldiers, although wounded, survived and were transported to Kyiv, where they are now communicating with the Security Service of Ukraine.

"This was not an easy task: Russian and other North Korean military forces routinely execute their wounded to eliminate any evidence of North Korean involvement in the war against Ukraine," the Ukrainian president added.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) released video purportedly showing Korean soldiers. In the video, the SBU spokesman says that one of the North Koreans was captured on January 9 by Ukrainian special forces and the other by Ukrainian paratroopers.
"They are being held in appropriate conditions that meet the requirements of international law," he said.
In the video, the two soldiers are seen lying in a cell. One has a wound on his jaw. Neither can be heard speaking as a doctor says the second soldier has a broken leg.
The SBU spokesman said that "communication with them is done through interpreters in Korean," in cooperation with South Korea's intelligence service. (A2 Televizion)
