Stormy Daniels case, Trump makes new move to avoid conviction

Donald Trump has filed a new request in the Appeals Chamber to vacate his conviction in the Stormy Daniels case, for which Judge Juan Merchan sentenced the president-elect on January 10.

Trump once again invokes presidential immunity, denied by the magistrate, and in any case requests a postponement of the sentence until a higher court decides.

NBC News, citing a document presented by the defense in the Court of Appeals of the State of New York, has revealed the last move of the US president-elect, writes A2.

Trump's lawyers, in particular, have asked Judge Merchan to cancel Friday's hearing and suspend any other court dates until the presidential immunity challenges are fully resolved.

Merchan rejected Trump's request to dismiss the case last week, ordering sentencing on 34 counts of falsifying business records to continue this week, before Trump takes office in the White House.

In doing so, the judge also said he had no intention of sentencing Trump to any prison term and was inclined to hand down a conditional sentence. (A2 Televizion)
