NATO to ask Germany to send 40,000 additional troops to bolster defenses against

NATO wants Germany to contribute about 40,000 more troops to bolster defenses against Russia.

According to foreign media, it is known that reports coming from Bloomberg and Reuters claim that the defense alliance is concerned about Russia's growing hostility and is seeking to strengthen defenses.

Exact figures for NATO's objectives, whether overall or country by country, are difficult to verify as the information is classified.

But a senior military official told Reuters that the target for the total number of brigades that NATO allies will need to provide in the future will increase to between 120 and 130.

And another NATO official told Bloomberg that the alliance is "setting ambitious new goals for allies," writes A2 CNN.

In 2021, Germany agreed to provide 10 brigades - units that typically consist of around 5,000 troops - to NATO by 2030.

There are currently eight brigades and a ninth is being built in Lithuania, which will be ready by 2027. (A2 Televizion)
