"We'll know in two weeks whether Putin is kidding us or not," US President Donald Trump has said, vowing to change course if he determines that Vladimir Putin is not serious about achieving peace in Ukraine.
He reiterated that he was "very disappointed" by Moscow's attacks a few days ago, CNN reports.
Trump declined to specify what actions he might consider to punish Russia, insisting that his new tough language toward Moscow should speak for itself. He expressed concern that potential new sanctions on Russia could jeopardize a deal.
Trump said Wednesday that he still believes Russia "seems to want to do something," but expressed uncertainty about how serious the country is about ending the war. And he appeared cautious about imposing new sanctions on Moscow amid ongoing talks.
