Wall Street has nicknamed US President Donald Trump 'Taco', a nickname he doesn't like at all.
According to foreign media, when a journalist asked him a question about this nickname during the traditional press conference in the Oval Office, Trump lost his composure, saying: "Don't say that again, it's an ugly question. For me, it's the worst."
The nickname circulating among market operators is intended to describe the President's behavior of threatening tariffs on other countries, but then backing off. During the conference, Trump denied that the constant changes in his stance on tariffs constitute a backlash, explaining that he is usually criticized for being "too tough" on trade, not a coward, according to him.
The term "taco trade" was first used by the Financial Times and for Wall Street it quite well describes the trade chaos the Trump administration has plunged the United States and the countries it is negotiating with, writes A2 CNN.
In the week after the so-called 'Day' in early April, when Trump announced sweeping tariffs, he immediately declared that they would be reduced to 10%. The same thing happened in the trade conflict with China: initially, after an escalation of the measures, he announced super tariffs of up to 145% on Chinese imports, only to later reduce them to 10% on many products.
And finally, last week, came the threat of 50% tariffs on European Union products, followed by the postponement of any decision until July. In short, another retreat. (A2 Televizion)
