President Joe Biden has provisionally pardoned a number of people, including Covid-19 response chief Anthony Fauci and members of the January 6 riots investigation, to prevent "unwarranted... politically motivated prosecutions."
Biden said: "Our nation owes these public servants a debt of gratitude for their tireless commitment."
Trump, who will be inaugurated later on Monday, has suggested he will take action against those who tried to hold him accountable for an attempt by his supporters to overturn the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.
Biden also issued a preliminary apology to retired General Mark Milley, who has described Trump as "fascist to the core" and "dangerous."
"These public servants have served our nation with honor and distinction and do not deserve to be the targets of unjustified and politically motivated prosecutions," the White House statement said, writes A2 CNN. (A2 Televizion)
