German military equipment giant Rheinmetall has unveiled its new armored car, the TGS-Mil Protected, in Vienna. The new armored vehicle was designed and built to meet the needs of transporting personnel and supplies during military missions.
The TGS-Mil Protected is based on the TG series of military trucks and MAN trucks, and is produced at the Rheinmetall MAN military vehicle plant in Vienna.
In the presented version, the two-person cabin of the TGS-Mil Protected is armored, providing increased protection for military personnel, in accordance with established NATO standards.
The vehicle is available with 6×6 and 8×8 transmission system options, covering different operational requirements.
Its construction follows a modular design philosophy, which allows the frame to be adapted to different mission profiles. This includes the ability to select and adapt different levels of armor, specialized communication systems, advanced electronic architecture systems, and mission-specific equipment on the vehicle.
The TGS-Mil Protected is powered by the MAN "D2676" inline six-cylinder diesel engine with a displacement of 12.4 liters. In this case, it delivers up to 527 horsepower and meets the "Euro II", "Euro V" and "Euro VIe" emission standards, while its operation is carried out without problems with the NATO military fuel "F34".
The chassis and transmission system are relatively simple and robust, which makes it easy to maintain and provide technical support for the vehicle worldwide.
Finally, according to what a Rheinmetall spokesperson announced, the new military armored vehicle is expected to meet the growing operational needs of modern armies, which need vehicles that are highly durable both in time and in the event of an attack, flexible in the field, and highly adaptable.
