Airport strikes: 3,400 flights canceled in Germany, half a million passengers

More than 510,000 passengers have been affected by today's 24-hour strike at at least ten airports in Germany, which began at midnight.

More than 3,400 flights are expected to be canceled at the airports of Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Bonn/Cologne, Stuttgart, Leipzig, Bremen and Hamburg.

In fact, in the Hanseatic city, the mobilization began suddenly yesterday morning, with the start of the school spring break.

At Germany's largest airport, Frankfurt, it is estimated that approximately 150,000 passengers will not be able to travel on their scheduled flights, while "transit" flights will not be served either.

Unions have called for a strike by workers in the aircraft and passenger safety sectors, but also in the pilot sector, ahead of the third round of negotiations with the employer.

Trade unionists are demanding an 8% wage increase and at least 350 euros more monthly income, higher bonuses for working during periods of pressure, and three additional days off.

The employers have so far rejected the demands as unfounded and have not presented a counterproposal. (A2 Televizion)
