"We need Greenland for security," Trump threatens: We do not rule out

President Donald Trump has reiterated his threat to use military force to annex Greenland. In an interview with NBC, he said he would not rule out the use of force, saying the US "very much needs" Greenland.

"I'm not ruling it out. I'm not saying I'm going to do it, but I'm not ruling anything out. We need Greenland very badly," Trump said, CNN reports.

"Greenland is a very small population, which we will take care of, we will love and all that. But we need it for international security." He added that he doubts that this will happen, but that the possibility "certainly" exists.

Trump is back in the news with a series of announcements that are shaking up domestic politics and international relations. In a message published in Truth, the US president declared that he had ordered the reconstruction and reopening of the Alcatraz federal prison, closed for more than sixty years.

"It will house America's most ruthless and violent criminals," he wrote, specifying that the facility will be "significantly expanded."

Also on social media, Trump announced his intention to impose a 100% tariff on all foreign-produced films distributed in the United States.

"We want American-made movies again!" he said, denouncing what he called "a threat to national security."

According to the president, the American film industry is "dying very quickly" due to incentives offered by other countries to lure directors and studios away from the United States.

During a meeting with reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump confirmed that he had proposed sending US troops to Mexico to fight drug cartels.

He then criticized Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum: "She's a wonderful woman, but she's so afraid of the cartels that she can't even think straight."

Trump also ruled out a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, saying that “China and our people are talking about different things.” He then commented on the transfer of Mike Waltz from head of the National Security Council (NSA) to the role of US ambassador to the UN. “I have not lost confidence in him, personally, I prefer that role to that other one.”

On the economic front, the president predicted the possibility of new trade agreements being reached as early as this week, specifying that: "I will be the one to determine the obligations and the conditions."

Regarding immigration policy, he reiterated the need to speed up judicial appointments and criticized the current system: " We need judges who don't pretend to try every illegal immigrant. With millions of arrivals, millions of trials would be needed, it's impossible." (A2 Televizion)
