Hamas has officially announced that it has accepted the US proposal for the release of kidnapped American-Israeli soldier Idan Alexander, along with the four bodies of the slain hostages with dual citizenship held in Gaza.
The militant group said it had received "a proposal" from mediators, without going into details. Qatar and Egypt have been mediating indirect talks between Israel and Hamas.
"The movement responded responsibly and positively, giving its response at dawn today, which included its approval for the release of the Zionist soldier Edan Alexander, who has American citizenship, in addition to the bodies of four others with dual citizenship," Hamas stated, according to A2 CNN.
Hamas did not identify the names of the dead hostages it will release.
The terrorist organization also said it "confirms its absolute readiness to begin negotiations and reach an agreement on the second phase of the deal."
The United States has presented a new proposal that would secure the release of a handful of live hostages held by Hamas in exchange for a one-month extension of the Israel-Hamas ceasefire, a source familiar with the negotiations said. (A2 Televizion)
