A shocking incident has occurred at Barcelona's El Prat Airport, when parents abandoned their 10-year-old child in the terminal after discovering his passport had expired and he did not have a visa to travel.
The family, who were traveling to their country of origin, had two children with them. When it was discovered that one of them did not have the necessary documentation, the parents decided not to miss their vacation and boarded the plane with only the other child, leaving the little one at the airport. They had announced that someone from the family would pick him up, but there was no guarantee when he would arrive.
The situation went viral on TikTok, after an airport employee shared her experience, shocked by the incident: "As a mother, I'm terrified. Who leaves a child alone in the terminal for hours?"
After alerting staff, the Guardia Civil intervened immediately and managed to stop the parents before the plane took off. They were taken to the police station and are being investigated for abandonment of a minor.
