Israel does not stop its attacks against the Gaza Strip. At least 26 Palestinian civilians have been killed by Israeli rockets.
Doctors said at least 13 Palestinians were killed overnight in separate Israeli airstrikes, including two houses in Gaza City and a central camp.
On Thursday, medics said an Israeli airstrike killed nine people near the Beach refugee camp in Gaza City, while another killed four others in the Sheikh Zayed housing project near Beit Lahiya in the north, bringing the death toll to Thursday at 26. There was no Israeli army comment.
"The longer these talks go on, the more destruction and death happens in Gaza. Jabalia, Beit Hanoun and Beit Lahiya are being wiped out, Rafah too," said Adel, 60, a Jabalia resident who is now displaced in Gaza.
Palestinians accuse Israel of "ethnic cleansing" in those areas by depopulating residents to create buffer zones. Israel denies this and says its campaign aims to wipe out Hamas, an Islamist militant group, and prevent it from regrouping.
Meanwhile, American and Arab mediators are working intensively to reach a cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hamas, sources close to the talks said, citing Reuters.
Mediators, in talks in Egypt and Qatar, are seeking to forge a deal to end the 14-month war in the Hamas-ruled enclave that would include the release of hostages captured by Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, along with the Palestinians.
Sources told Reuters that Hamas wanted a package deal, but Israel wanted a phased deal. The talks center on the release of the first phase of hostages, dead or alive, as well as a number of Palestinians imprisoned by Israel. (A2 Televizion)
