Israel surrounds Al Shifa hospital with tanks and soldiers, Hamas asks for international help

Israel carried out a military operation in the early hours of the morning at the Al Shifa hospital, which has been in the headlines in recent days from the war in Gaza, as thousands of patients are at the mercy of fate due to power cuts and oil supply to keep medical equipment running.

Hundreds of soldiers and tanks surrounded the hospital in what the Israeli military described in a social media post as a special operation against Hamas, which is suspected of having an underground base.

The post also called on all militants of the terrorist group to surrender to avoid civilian casualties.

Witnesses from the scene told international media that hundreds of masked soldiers entered the hospital complex and called on those present not to move until they were fully identified.

Hamas immediately reacted to this Israeli operation calling it a crime against humanity. The Minister of Health, Mai Al-Kaila, wrote on social networks that violence is being perpetrated against patients in the hospital premises.

Meanwhile, Al Kaila made an appeal to the international community to intervene to save the 1500 staff members as well as the patients who are in al Shifa.

Over the past day there has been fierce debate in the West about attacks near hospital facilities in Gaza, but the Israeli military insists Hamas has hidden its bases beneath them, using doctors and civilians as human shields.
