North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has inspected a tank manufacturing plant, where he praised "great progress in the core technology of Korean-style tanks," state media KCNA reported today.
Kim stated that the production of tanks and armored vehicles is key to modernizing the military and fulfilling the Party's plan for the "second revolution in armored forces."
Kim's visit comes as part of a broader effort to modernize the country's conventional armed forces, in addition to its nuclear and missile arsenal.
Recently, he participated in the launch of a new naval "destroyer" as well as in tests of new drones and other weapons.
Officials from South Korea and the US have said they suspect North Korea is receiving technical and military assistance from Russia in exchange for supplies of ammunition, missiles and even troops for the war in Ukraine, although concrete details have not yet been confirmed. (A2 Televizion)
