Russia launched a massive drone strike on Ukraine's second-largest city, Kharkiv, hitting a high-rise building. A series of fires were set off by the wave of attacks late on Friday, injuring at least 46 people, including an 11-year-old girl. According to Mayor Ihor Terekhov, 12 areas around the northeastern city were targeted. Meanwhile, President Volodymyr Zelensky denounced the drone strikes and said Ukraine's allies were moving too slowly to bolster Kiev's air defenses.

"There were no military targets there and there could not be. Russia hits the palaces when Ukrainians are in their homes, when they are putting their children to sleep. While the world delays decisions, almost every night in Ukraine turns into a horror that results in the loss of lives. Ukraine needs stronger air defense. Stronger decisions from our partners: the United States, Europe, all our partners who seek peace," Zelensky said.

Footage posted online showed firefighters battling flames, collapsed building facades, shattered windows and burning vehicles. Regional authorities said four people were also injured in a Russian drone and artillery attack in the southeastern Dnipropetrovsk region.

In Kherson, a resident died after a downed drone exploded as he tried to take it home. According to Ukrainian authorities, Moscow launched about 183 drones and two ballistic missiles overnight. Meanwhile, the mayor of the Russian port city of Novorossiysk declared a state of emergency on Saturday after local authorities said a drone strike from Ukraine damaged a grain terminal and several residential buildings, injuring five people.
