A 6-year-old girl was found alone in Sesto Pusteria in Bolzano, on the slopes of Monte Elmo, in Italy. According to Italian media reports, the Slovak girl was left alone for almost two hours while her parents went skiing independently. When the couple returned to pick her up, they found the police waiting for her, who reported her to the authorities.
According to police, the little girl was spotted near a shelter, completely alone. Her parents, on vacation at the popular ski resort, apparently decided to temporarily abandon her in a public area, believing it was safe to leave her alone while they skied on various slopes throughout the ski area.
"The case should not be underestimated," declared the commander of the Sesto Gandellino Carabinieri station Bucci, reiterating the importance of adult supervision of minors, to avoid unpleasant consequences.
According to the police, this episode is not an isolated case. Reports of children being left alone in public places by their parents are becoming increasingly frequent.
"This phenomenon, which reflects an alarming deficit in parental responsibility, can have very serious consequences, both in terms of immediate risks for minors and for their emotional development," says Simone Carlini, commander of the Carabinieri company of San Candido. (A2 Televizion)
