The participation of North Korean troops in the liberation of the Kursk region is a direct confirmation that relations between the two countries are characterized by "unbreakable brotherhood." This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during a meeting with his North Korean counterpart Choe Son Hui.
"During the first round of our strategic negotiations, you described our new basic strategic agreement as a solid foundation for an indestructible fighting brotherhood ," Lavrov said.
"This assessment of his was clearly confirmed in the Kursk region, as you mentioned, where heroic military personnel, soldiers of the Korean People's Army, together with Russian fighters, at the cost of blood and even human lives, brought the liberation of the Kursk region from the Ukrainian Nazis closer," he added.
During the meeting with his North Korean counterpart, Lavrov confirmed that Moscow will help increase tourist flows to North Korea's new major resort, Wonsan Kalma, on the country's east coast, which was inaugurated last month by leader Kim Jong-un.
"I am sure that Russian tourists will try to come here more and more. We will contribute in every possible way by creating the necessary conditions, including flights," Lavrov said.
The Wonsan tourist area can accommodate about 20,000 visitors and is the first of several facilities to be built on a large scale, according to the official KCNA news agency.
