Following his conversation with Vladimir Putin, US President Donald Trump also had a phone conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
According to foreign media, citing the Office of the President of Ukraine, the two leaders spoke by phone for about an hour.
Earlier, Trump said he would call President Zelenskyy to inform him of his conversation with Vladimir Putin, in which he agreed to "immediately begin negotiations" to end the war.
It was unclear whether these negotiations included Kiev or were bilateral talks between the US and Russia, writes A2 CNN.
"We agreed to work together, very closely, including visiting each other's nations," Trump said after his call with Putin.
Trump said that Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, National Security Advisor Michael Waltz and Ambassador Steve Witkoff will lead the negotiations.
He described the phone conversation as "very productive" and the leaders agreed they want to stop the deaths of thousands of people from the fighting in Ukraine. (A2 Televizion)
