NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has called for peace in Ukraine through talks to be held in Turkey.
Rutte made the comments from Tirana, while he was at Skanderbeg Square, where the European Political Community meeting is being held, writes A2 CNN.
Rutte also said that the 'ball' is now in Putin's court and, according to him, it is the Russian President who must now make efforts to achieve a lasting peace between the two countries.
Rutte also praised the role of the US and President Donald Trump in unblocking the situation created in Ukraine, following the launch of Russian aggression.
"Every part of Ukrainian territory should be there. Putin made a mistake by sending a low-level delegation. The ball is in his court. He should play, for the establishment of peace. I know Putin very well, I know that he is not inclined to peace.
It's great that the Ukrainians have come to the table and sent a very willing delegation to negotiate peace. I'm very happy about the role that the US is playing, about the role that Trump has taken to unblock this whole situation.
"I had a very good visit to the region, I also had very good discussions in Brussels with President Vučić," Rutte said. (A2 Televizion)
