Ukraine: 73 drones shot down over our skies, but no missile attacks reported

Ukraine says it has shot down 73 drones using a combination of aircraft and mobile firefighting teams on the ground.

According to foreign media, the Ukrainian Air Force announces that it has lost another F-16 aircraft supplied by the West, while the pilot is reported to have ejected safely and been rescued.

The jet was said to be repelling an air attack on the country and had already destroyed three air targets and was firing at a fourth with cannon (a six-barreled 20mm Gatling gun).

Ukraine said overnight it had shot down 73 drones, using a combination of aircraft and mobile fire groups, ground-based anti-aircraft artillery units on the ground. Targeted areas included the east, north, south and centre of the country.

It said 36 other "mimic" drones, drones that are not equipped with nuclear warheads but are designed to manipulate, confuse and overwhelm air defenses, were destroyed "without adverse consequences."

No ballistic or cruise missiles were reported to have been launched in this night attack, writes A2 CNN. (A2 Televizion)
