Russian President Vladimir Putin has said he hopes the ceasefire in Gaza will lead to long-term stabilization of the region.
According to foreign media, speaking at a press conference, Putin said it was important not to weaken efforts towards a comprehensive solution leading to the creation of an independent Palestinian state.
He made the comment after signing a cooperation pact with Iran, writes A2 CNN.
Russian and Iranian officials say the "comprehensive strategic partnership treaty" covers all areas, from trade and military cooperation to science, education and culture.
Iran is the backer of Hamas in Gaza and several other militant groups in the Middle East.
We remind you that the agreement is expected to be approved today by the Israeli cabinet and to enter into force on Sunday.
The agreement is expected to end the war and lead to the release of Israeli and Palestinian hostages and prisoners.
