Israeli President Isaac Herzog has welcomed the Security Cabinet's decision to recommend the approval of a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement.
According to foreign media, the government Cabinet is expected to vote on the agreement soon, which if approved will enter into force on Sunday.
"This is a vital step towards fulfilling the highest covenant between the state and its citizens. There is no greater moral, human, Jewish and Israeli duty. We must bring all our hostages home," Herzog says in a post on the social network 'X'.
"I have no illusions - the agreement will bring with it great challenges and painful moments that we will have to overcome and face together," the Israeli President further said, writes A2 CNN.
He adds that he has embraced all the families of the hostages, especially those who will not be returned in the first phase of the agreement, where 33 hostages are expected to be released. (A2 Televizion)
