The transitional government in Syria meets, Bashir message to the West: We are

Syria's new prime minister, Mohamed al-Bashir, who will lead the country temporarily until March 1, 2025, spoke to the media a few hours after being entrusted with the important task of starting the reconstruction of the country devastated by the 14-year civil war. years.

The mechanical engineer from Idlib has agreed to be the man with whom the rebels will try to achieve their first two goals: on the one hand, to show the West that they themselves have no intention of creating a new Islamic ISIS, and on the other , to send a clear message to millions of Syrians to return to their homeland.

Both of these efforts will be extremely difficult, but if anyone can deliver, everyone in Syria believes it is Bashir.

The newly appointed prime minister announced a few hours ago that he met with the members of the transitional government.

"We invited members from the old government and some directors from the administration in Idlib and the surrounding areas in order to facilitate all the necessary work for the next two months until we have a constitutional system to be able to serve the Syrian people ", al-Bashir told Al Jazeera.

"Today, we had other meetings to set up institutions so that we can serve our people in Syria," he added, conveying a message to the West, when he said that the rebels who overthrew the regime are not like ISIS.

Bashir with a very important job for Hayat Tahrir al-Sham in the key area of Idlib has quite a serious resume, given the conditions and the area in which he grew up. Bashir has been, according to Russian and American sources, for several years the person who talked to both sides and since 2020 the person who has had direct access to the heart of the rebels.

For the West, it is clear that Bashir, except as a transitional prime minister, cannot continue to hold this post for long, but the saying that " nothing is permanent " does not apply absolutely as in the Middle East in general as well as in Syria in particular.

There has been no public and open dispute about Bashir neither from Russia and the USA nor from Great Britain, France, Israel and Turkey. He seems to be the choice that informally enjoys the relevant approval. Bashir may have declared that he will lead the country until March and that he will draft the new Constitution, but it is certain that his role is essential for tomorrow throughout the region.

The burning issues for Syria are mainly related to the humanitarian crisis and amnesty, but this is unlikely to be achieved in a few months. On the other hand, Bashir, with the contacts he has had in recent years with both the US and Russia, will be decisive in charting the course of the coming decades. (A2 Televizion)
