Google says it will change the name of the Gulf of Mexico in its Google Maps app following an executive order recently signed by United States President Donald Trump. With the new renaming, the gulf between the two countries will be called the Gulf of America.
It will remain the Gulf of Mexico in Mexico, while users outside the US and Mexico will see both names on Google Maps.
Alaska's Denali peak, the highest mountain in North America, will also be changed to Mount McKinley in the US in accordance with Trump's executive order on January 20.
"We have a long-standing practice of applying name changes when they are updated in official government," Google said in X.
The US president ordered the name change as part of a slew of executive actions hours after taking office, fulfilling a campaign promise. (A2 Televizion)
