The Russian Defense Ministry has released images of the fourth-generation Russian nuclear-powered submarine, called the Arkhangelsk, which is currently at a temporary base in northern Russia. The submarine has a diverse armament, giving it the ability to strike targets at sea and on land.
The crew is expected to undergo additional training, after which the submarine will officially join the Northern Fleet naval force, which is ready for deployment.
The new submarine is named after the capital of the Oblast region, Arkhangelsk. Until the early 18th century, it was the main seaport in the European part of Russia, when it was succeeded by St. Petersburg. (A2 Televizion)
