Marine Le Pen has been found guilty of misusing European funds to finance her far-right National Front party.
The judge has not yet said what the sentence will be. Prosecutors said last year that Le Pen's punishment should not only be a fine of 300,000 euros and imprisonment, but also the inability to run for public office for five years, writes A2 CNN.
Most importantly, prosecutors stressed that her disqualification should begin immediately, and not be suspended pending the appeal that Marine Le Pen plans to file if convicted. That would derail her hopes of running for president in 2027. (A2 Televizion)
