The Russian Foreign Minister says there is no doubt that Moscow will be able to withstand any new sanctions from the US.
According to foreign media, Sergei Lavrov was speaking at a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in China.
Asked about Trump's threat to impose sanctions on Russia and whether the Kremlin could continue talks with Washington, Lavrov said: "We would like to see what is hidden behind this statement by President Trump."
"Now it's 50 days, before it was 24 hours, we heard about 100 days ago. We've already passed it. We want to see what the US really wants," Lavrov said, A2 CNN reports.
The Russian minister also said he understood that "a huge amount of pressure" was being exerted on the US by the EU and NATO leadership.
He added: “There’s a saying we have: Don’t dig a hole for someone else or you’ll fall into it yourself.”
"The sanctions being prepared in Brussels by the EU and this sanctions channel that already exists, want to bring the US into it as well," he added. (A2 Televizion)
