Minister Sybiha: Ukraine wants to see Russia's peace proposals before talks

Ukraine wants to see a document setting out Russia's proposals for a peace agreement before sending a delegation to peace talks in Istanbul, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha said.

According to foreign media, while Kiev has published its conditions, Russian negotiators have kept theirs, while analysts accuse Moscow of deliberately delaying the process, in order to achieve victory on the battlefield.

Russia has proposed talks in Istanbul on June 2, but will not say what it wants to discuss specifically, writes A2 CNN.

"For the upcoming planned meeting to be substantive and meaningful, it is important to obtain a document in advance, so that the delegation that will participate has the authority to discuss the relevant positions," said Sybiha.

Sybiha did not clarify what Kiev would do if it did not receive the Russian document, nor did he set a timeline for receiving it.

At their last meeting, the Russian delegation handed Ukraine a list of ultimatums that amounted to Kiev's capitulation, including the surrender of five Ukrainian regions, which the Ukrainian team swiftly rejected.
