Russia says its troops are continuing to gain territory along the front line in Ukraine.
The Russian Defense Ministry is quoted by the state news agency RIA as reporting that Russian troops have now taken control of the Kamianka settlement in Ukraine's northeastern Kharkiv region.
Sky News could not independently verify the report. The report comes a day after Russian news agencies reported that Vladimir Putin had called military commanders in his southern Kursk region to congratulate them on the expulsion of Ukrainian forces there, A2 CNN reports.
But Kiev denied the claims, insisting that its forces had not been completely driven out of Kursk, adding that they were also operating in Belgorod, another Russian region bordering Ukraine, writes A2 CNN.
While Kiev acknowledged that the situation is "difficult," it said forces were holding their positions in Kursk.
"The operational situation is difficult, but our units continue to hold designated positions and perform assigned tasks, inflicting effective fire damage on the enemy with all types of weapons," the General Staff of Ukraine said. (A2 Televizion)
