The Arab world has unanimously rejected US President Donald Trump's plan for the Gaza Strip. Egypt, Jordan and several other Middle Eastern countries as well as the organization, through a joint statement, warned that the displacement of Palestinians from their home to a foreign country would seriously threaten the stability of the region.
"The plan risks expanding the map of conflict and undermines the prospect for peace and coexistence between peoples," the statement reads.
Saudi Arabia's reaction to Trump's plan has been more direct, stressing that it will not establish relations with Israel without the creation of a Palestinian state. The Palestinian ambassador to the United Nations emphasizes that people want to return to their homes in Gaza to rebuild their lives as their country is in the homeland.
"We will stand firm on our land here. Whoever wants to rebuild Gaza should not expel us under the pretext of rebuilding the country. You, America, helped Israel to do this destruction. Therefore, you should rebuild it without expelling us," said a Gaza resident.
"We have just emerged from the ruins, the destruction and a war of destruction, a genocide, and we do not know when death will come to us. But we stood and resisted until our last breath. This president, who is called Donald Trump, comes to us with a new method to displace us from our country where we have roots. This is our land, we will not leave it," adds another.
Strong opposition has also come from the Hamas group, considering Trump's plan racist.
Izzat Al-Rashiq | Senior Hamas official.
"We strongly oppose President Trump's statements regarding the expulsion of our Palestinian people from the Gaza Strip and regarding the United States' control over the Gaza Strip. These statements reflect deep confusion and ignorance about Palestine and the region. Gaza is certainly not a common land and is not a property that can be bought and sold."
Hamas demanded that the US president withdraw the plan, while the Arab and Muslim worlds organize a summit to take a historic stand and send a message to the globe and the Palestinians. (A2 Televizion)
