Ukraine and Russia have agreed to exchange prisoners of war. Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov informed Ukrainian journalists about the news after talks with Russia concluded in Istanbul.
Umerov says Ukraine and Russia have agreed to exchange 1,000 prisoners of war each.
" We discussed the issue of the ceasefire. And the issue of prisoner exchanges. The result is the exchange of 1,000 people for 1,000. This is the result of our meeting. The date has been set, but it is not being made public ," he said.
Umerov also said that a possible meeting between Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin has been discussed and that an announcement on a possible new round of talks will be made soon.
Umerov adds that " all modalities " of a ceasefire were also discussed.
Meanwhile, a member of the BBC Ukrainian team, who is with representatives of the Ukrainian delegation in Istanbul, says that talks with Russia are over. (A2 Televizion)
