Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has warned regional and world powers not to intervene in Syria, once again confirming the role of protagonist assumed there since the fall of Bashar Al-Assad.
"All countries should keep their hands off Syria. Together with our Syrian brothers, we have the capabilities to crush all terrorist organizations in the country, including the YPG (Kurds) and the Islamic State in a very short time," Erdogan said in a speech to the Turkish parliament.
According to him, the YPG is the main threat in Syria at the moment, as the Kurdish organization controls a third of Syrian territory. "If the YPG does not hand over its weapons, it will not be able to escape its inevitable end," Erdogan added.
"If the organization turns a deaf ear to this call and the groups affiliated with it do not retreat, then we will achieve our goal of a terrorism-free Turkey through other methods." (A2 Televizion)
