US President Joe Biden said Wednesday it was a "very good afternoon" after he officially announced the agreement between Israel and Hamas, writes A2 CNN.
According to foreign media, Biden's reaction came immediately after the interim agreement to stop the fighting in Gaza and the phased release of Palestinian hostages and prisoners.
"It's a very good afternoon because I can finally announce that a ceasefire and a hostage agreement have been reached between Israel and Hamas, after more than 15 months of conflict that began with Hezbollah's brutal massacre on October 7," Biden said, incorrectly stating which group launched the October 7, 2023 attack.
"More than 15 months of terror for the hostages, their families, the Israeli people. More than 15 months of suffering for the innocent people of Gaza. The fighting in Gaza will stop. And soon the hostages will return home to their families," he added, writes A2 CNN.
Biden's remarks at the White House, accompanied by Vice President Kamala Harris and Secretary of State Antony Blinken, began as the Qatari prime minister was confirming that an agreement had been reached. (A2 Televizion)
