Ukraine's holiday lasted only a few hours after the European Commission recommended the opening of EU membership negotiations. Hungary is the first country to oppose this decision, raising concerns about the bloc's security.

"The foreign minister has expressed concern that Ukraine is not ready for EU membership due to ongoing conflicts, which could lead to war in the EU. He highlighted Ukraine's failure to meet EU candidate country criteria and highlighted violations of minority rights. The head of diplomacy also called for prioritizing the integration of the countries of the Western Balkans in the EU, especially the progress of Serbia," said Zoltan Kovacs, spokesman for the government of Hungary.

Earlier, the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that Ukraine has almost completely fulfilled the requirements and recommendations, while announcing that an official decision on whether or not to open negotiations is expected in December by the European Council.

So, in Kiev, the resumption of peace negotiations is being discussed. But the foreign minister, Dmitro Kuleba, categorically rejects a peace table with Russia and calls those who demand such a thing ill-informed or pro-Russian.

"Negotiations with Russia will be another trap for Ukraine, which will allow President Vladimir Putin to rest before launching a new round of aggression," he said.

Meanwhile, on the other hand, Moscow says that the time has come for Kiev and Washington to understand that it is impossible to defeat Russia on the battlefield. (A2 Televizion)
