Putin: Oreshnik can settle in Belarus

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko have signed important bilateral security agreements, including a treaty that could lead to the deployment of new Oreshnik-type missiles on Belarusian territory. At a joint conference in Minsk, Lukashenko openly urged Russia to deploy these modern weapons systems in Belarus, arguing that his country has suitable sites for this purpose.

"I demand that you deploy the latest weapons systems, mainly Oreshnik missiles, on the territory of Belarus," Lukashenko said, adding that the targets for these weapons will be determined by the Belarusian military and political leadership. He also emphasized that during the training of the Belarusian military, the missiles will be operated by Russian professionals.

Putin confirmed that he is ready to consider this request and proposed that the deployment of the Oreshnik systems could begin in the second half of 2025. "After we have signed the treaty of security guarantees with all available forces and means, I see possible deployment of these systems on Belarusian territory," Putin said.

These missiles, which were tested for the first time under combat conditions last month in an attack on a Ukrainian city, represent a significant advance in Russia's strategic arsenal. Putin added that their deployment will occur in parallel with the increase in the series production of these systems by Russia. (A2 Televizion)
