"Terrorism risk!" US warns citizens traveling to Italy and several

The Trump administration has raised its travel advisory for Italy by one level, urging American tourists to "exercise increased caution due to the risk of terrorist violence." This was announced by Italian media, which referred to the warning published on May 23 and reissued today by several American media. The US State Department's guidance raises the points reserved for Italian territory from the base level of one to two, writes A2 CNN.

"There is a risk of terrorist violence, including terrorist attacks and other activities in Italy," the US State Department website states.

The travel advisory warns that terrorists could attack "with little or no warning" and urges caution at tourist attractions. Tourist sites, churches, airports, hotels and restaurants are cited as frequent targets, A2 CNN reports.

Other major EU countries, such as Germany, France and Spain, also have level two warnings, while most EU countries are at level one on a scale of one to four.

Italy is one of the most popular travel destinations in Europe for Americans. According to recent statistics, more than 7.5 million American tourists and business people visit the country each year.
