Schwarzenegger meets the families of the Israeli hostages

Former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger met on Friday with relatives of three people captured by Hamas in Israel and held in Gaza, supporting them for their loved ones. The meeting was organized by the Museum of Tolerance in Jerusalem.

Schwarzenegger gave his visitors bronze eagle sculptures, while they presented him with "Bring Them Home" dog tags.

Declaring himself a "great friend of the Jewish people and Israel," Schwarzenegger said he wanted to reinforce the message not to abandon those who remain hostages.

Israel says Hamas, the militant group that rules Gaza, took 240 hostages in the Oct. 7 attack that also killed 1,200 people and started a war in the Middle East.

During a seven-day pause in the fighting that ended Friday, officials said 110 hostages -- 86 Israelis and 24 foreigners -- were released in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, while the bodies of two hostages were recovered by Israeli troops. (A2 Televizion)
