The United States Air Force has taken to the air its newest bomber, the B-21 Raider. He conducted tests over California on Friday, where he was also photographed by ordinary citizens. Later, these tests were also confirmed by Air Force officials.
Next year, the US has projected to add to its fleet a minimum of 100 B-21 Raider aircraft, which according to the company that produces them, Northrop Grumman, each of them will cost about 750 million dollars.
The latest video footage shows the new fighter jet with a unique look. "As confirmed by the US Air Force, the B-21 Raider is conducting flight tests. These combined tests between Northrop Grumman experts and Air Force personnel will take us another step toward increasing operational capabilities," said Northrop Grumman.
The B-21 Raider bomber was presented to the public at a ceremony held in California in December last year. The new aircraft is part of the Pentagon's efforts to modernize its nuclear arsenal, which includes nuclear ballistic missiles and submarine-launched nuclear warheads. With this, the Pentagon is shifting from the counterterrorism campaigns of recent decades to confront China's rapid military modernization. They will carry nuclear weapons or conventional bombs and can be used with or without a human crew. The new aircraft was produced within seven years of the award of the contract while other war productions including ships have taken decades. The B-21 Raider got its name from the air raids on the Japanese capital, Tokyo in 1942 known as the "Doolittle Raid". It is slightly smaller than the 'B-2' to increase its range.
In October 2001, the pilots of the old B-2 bomber set a new record when they flew for 44 hours straight to drop the first bombs on Afghanistan after the 9/11 attacks. (A2 Televizion)
