Shortly before, on his way to a NATO summit in the Netherlands, Trump posted a message he received from the alliance's secretary general, Mark Rutte.
According to foreign media, NATO has confirmed that the message is genuine, but has not said whether Rutte intended it to attract a worldwide audience.
In his flattering message to the US President, Rutte writes to Trump that his action in Iran was decisive and extraordinary, an action that no one else, according to him, dared to take.
“Dear Donald,” he writes, “your decisive action in Iran... was truly extraordinary and something no one else dared to do.”
"You are flying towards another great success in The Hague," Rutte continues, referring to the expectation that NATO members will agree to reach within a decade, a target of spending 5% of their GDP on defense and security.
"You will achieve something that no American president could do for decades," he adds, writes A2 CNN.
