US Secretary of State Marco Rubio traveled to Kingston, Jamaica, today, where he also spoke about the leak of classified military information in a group on the Signal app, of which a journalist was also a part.
According to NBC News, he was unable to avoid talking about Signalgate, where he said there had been a "mistake."
"Obviously, someone made a mistake. Someone made a big mistake and added a journalist," Rubio said, writes A2 CNN.
He continued: "Nothing against journalists, but you shouldn't be in that group. That's how they got there and this happened."
NBC added that Rubio said he contributed to the conversation twice, once when he identified his chief of staff as his point of contact and the second time to congratulate members after the strike.
He continued: "Obviously, this was a mistake and it shouldn't have happened," adding "that none of the information there at any point threatened the operation or the lives of our servicemen. And in fact, it was a very successful operation." (A2 Televizion)
