An incredible scene was recorded on Sunday afternoon on Sotillo beach, in the Castel de Ferro area of Granada, when a boat carrying around 13 migrants, believed to be from Morocco, approached the shore before the astonished eyes of tourists and locals.

The incident happened at around 2pm local time, when a boat carrying young people was seen approaching the crowded beach. According to footage circulating on social media, the people on board began jumping into the sea and swimming towards the shore, startling holidaymakers.

Immediately after disembarking, most people began running to escape through the crowd. However, some locals followed them, managing to stop them and hold some until authorities arrived.

In one of the videos, a man in a swimsuit appears to have thrown a man to the ground, while the immigrant appears to be begging him to let him go.

Some of the people who got off the raft managed to escape, while the rest were arrested when the Spanish Civil Guard arrived. According to local police, a total of nine people were found and arrested.

The owner of a restaurant in the area described the events to local newspaper Ideal.  "We stood there not understanding what was happening. We thought it was a pleasure boat, but when they started throwing objects into the water and people started getting out, we realized that it was not normal. What surprised us most was that the boat was moving very slowly, as if they were not in a hurry or afraid. They stopped five meters from the shore, at the busiest point on the beach, and started jumping into the water one by one. The four people who remained on the boat, some wearing hoods, calmly left," he said. (A2 Televizion)
