The Israeli army entered Al Shifa hospital, where thousands of patients and displaced Palestinians have been trapped for weeks, killing several Hamas militants. Tel Aviv announced that it is conducting a precise and targeted operation against Hamas in a designated area inside the largest hospital in the territory, under which, according to the authorities, a Hamas command center is located.
The army said during the raid 5 militants were killed and weapons were found inside the hospital complex. Footage shot inside the hospital shows smoke in some of the rooms, as witnesses say tanks and soldiers entered the emergency room of the health center.
Health workers describe deplorable conditions inside the hospital, which, in addition to being at the center of fierce fighting, also suffers from a lack of electricity and fuel. This is making it nearly impossible to care for the most vulnerable patients, including 36 premature babies who were removed from incubators due to the power outage.
A doctor in Al-Shifa said three babies had died. So, Israel announced that it had provided incubators and medical equipment for the hospital. Hamas denies having bases under the building and denounces that the attack on the hospital constitutes a war crime. The White House wants to protect civilians and patients and says it does not want to see fighting in the hospital. The UN Secretary General, therefore, repeated the call for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire, as he said, in the name of humanity. (A2 Televizion)
