The most visible impact of the US withdrawal from the WHO will be on the global health body's budget.
According to foreign media, out of 196 member states, the US is by far the largest individual funder, contributing almost a fifth of the total budget.
If this happens and no other nation steps in to fill the void, the WHO's ability to respond to emergencies such as an Ebola outbreak, or mPox, and even more so another Covid-19-style pandemic, could be jeopardized.
Some scientists worry that the US will now remain isolated when it comes to programs such as pandemic preparedness and sequencing of seasonal flu strains for the development of annual flu vaccines, writes A2 CNN.
Others argue that the US withdrawal could spur further reforms to how the WHO operates, making it a body that better serves the public health needs of people around the globe.
But there are few signs that will be enough to convince the President to change his decision, writes A2 CNN. (A2 Televizion)
