North Korean units fighting for Russia against Ukraine suffered significant losses over the weekend, with at least 30 soldiers killed or wounded in villages near the war front in the Kursk region.
The statement by Ukraine's military spy agency comes after President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Saturday that Moscow was using large numbers of North Korean troops for the first time to launch attacks in the Kursk region, a Russian region where Ukraine has been conducting a cross-border incursion since August.
As it is said, Moscow is reforming the units after the losses suffered, as in addition to the victims, there is also talk of disappearances. This is the first time that Kiev talks about losses of such proportions among North Korean troops and in detail, writes A2 CNN.
The statement said that the victims were noted around the villages of Plekhovo, Vorozhba and Martynovka in the Kursk region, but did not provide details. The Kremlin refused to comment on the Ukrainian claims, while so far Russia has neither admitted nor denied the presence of Pyongyang's troops on the battlefield.
Initially, North Korea described as fake news the reports about sending its soldiers to Russia, but later an official said that such a step would be legal... Meanwhile, the EU Foreign Ministers have given the green light to the package of 15 of the sanctions against Russia. It includes 54 people and 30 entities that, as it is said, are considered responsible for actions that threaten the territorial integrity and sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.
The sanctions also aim to hit night companies outside the EU, which are part of Putin's shadow fleet, writes A2 CNN. (A2 Televizion)
