Turkey on Monday denounced an Israeli plan to double the population living in the occupied and annexed Golan Heights as a bid to expand its borders. This was reported by Turkish CNN, which refers to the statement of the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
"We strongly condemn Israel's decision to expand illegal settlements in the Golan Heights, which it has occupied since 1967. The said decision is a new phase of Israel's intention to expand its borders through occupation," the ministry said . Foreign Ministry in a statement, warning that the plan would "seriously undermine" efforts to bring stability to neighboring Syria after the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad's regime.
In a strong reaction to Israel's decision, Ankara called on them to react and end Netanyahu's illegal actions.
"This step taken by Israel is extremely disturbing when assessed alongside its entry into the separation zone between Israel and Syria in violation of the 1974 Agreement, its advances in adjacent regions and airstrikes against Syria. Israel's continued actions seriously undermine efforts to establish peace and stability in Syria and further increase tensions in the region. The international community must show the necessary reaction to Israel and ensure that the illegal activities of the Netanyahu government come to an end ," the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
