Police in France have solved the murder of a 57-year-old man by a restaurant owner and his 45-year-old wife, who own a pizzeria.
The details of the incident are gruesome. According to the case file, 69-year-old Philip Schneider and his 45-year-old wife, Natalie Kabumbashi, after killing 57-year-old Georges Meichler, dismembered his body and cooked parts of it to hide their tracks.
Confessing the crime, Schneider allegedly told police that it all started when they tried to force their way into the home where the victim lived.
The 69-year-old confessed that at one point they pushed the 57-year-old, leading to his fatal injury.
Fearing arrest, the couple dismembered the 57-year-old's body with a kitchen knife, while the 69-year-old told police he had cooked some of the victim's body parts because that's how he had seen them at a religious ceremony during a trip to Nepal.
Some of the victim's body parts were found scattered in various locations, while others were found in the van used by the pair of perpetrators.
The investigation that uncovered the crime began when the 57-year-old's daughter became concerned because he had disappeared.
The police officers who took over the case heard residents of the village where the victim lived describe seeing two people using his van, which was found a short distance away.
After managing to link the vehicle to the couple, police investigated their movements and phone communications before making an arrest on February 10, 2023.
Although Schneider admitted to the crime, his wife still denies any involvement in the murder. The court's final decision on the case is expected no later than May 22. (A2 Televizion)
