Trump begins lifting visas for foreigners, Harvard lawyers and the Government in

The Trump administration has begun the formal process to revoke Harvard's right to host international students, a move that appears to be aimed at dismissing a lawsuit the university filed last week to challenge the move.

Justice Department lawyers informed a federal judge today that the Department of Homeland Security has sent the university a "Notice of Intent to Withdraw" from the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP), writes A2 CNN.

The five-page notice, filed as Harvard is in the midst of its commencement ceremony, lists several reasons why the government intends to revoke Harvard's right to admit international students, including allegations that the university has failed to meet reporting requirements regarding international students and is failing to maintain an environment "free from violence and anti-Semitism," and gives the university 30 days to respond with affidavits or other evidence, A2 CNN reports.

Government and Harvard lawyers will face off in court in Boston today over a dispute that the university's lawyers say was initiated without following federal procedures for certification by the SEVP system.

The hearing before federal Judge Allison Burroughs, who blocked Trump's visa order on May 22, is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Boston time.
