Trump: Iran has 'somehow' agreed to nuclear deal with US

President Donald Trump has said that the US is getting very close to a nuclear deal with Iran.

According to foreign media, Trump made the comments in Doha, where he said that Iran has "somehow" agreed to the terms and continues to say that it cannot have a nuclear weapon.

"It's very simple," Trump adds, before adding that he wants them to succeed.

Trump's statement follows reports that a senior Iranian official said the country is prepared to make a number of concessions regarding its nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of economic sanctions.

Ali Shamkhani, a senior political, military and nuclear advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, spoke to Sky News' American partner, NBC News.

He said Tehran was willing to pledge never to produce nuclear weapons again, get rid of its stockpiles of highly enriched uranium, which could be used as weapons, agree to enrich uranium only to the lowest levels needed for civilian use, and allow international inspectors to oversee the process.

This was in exchange for the immediate lifting of all economic sanctions against the country. (A2 Televizion)
