Donald Trump also spoke about the assassination attempt against him.
"Over the last eight years, I have been tested more than any other president," Trump said in his speech on Capitol Hill immediately after being sworn in.
"Some have tried to stop our cause and have tried to take away my freedom, even my life. But my life was spared for a reason, to make America great again," the new American President emphasized.
Trump added that his government will work to meet every crisis with "dignity, strength and courage" and "will bring prosperity back to citizens of every race, religion, color and creed."
"January 20, 2025 is liberation day," Trump said.
Trump further provided details on some of the executive actions he plans to take now that he is President.
"Today, I will sign an executive order declaring a national emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border. All illegal entry will be immediately stopped and the government will begin the process of returning millions of criminal aliens from where they came. Today's executive orders will include designating cartels as foreign terrorist organizations. By invoking the Foreign Enemies Act of 1798, the government will use the full and overwhelming power of federal and state law enforcement to end foreign gangs on American soil," Donald Trump declared.
