US President Donald Trump has left open the possibility that Ukraine could become Russian. In an interview with Fox News, Trump confirmed that his special envoy for the Russia-Ukraine war, Keith Kellogg, will soon visit Kiev. He also said he would speak with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky this week.
"They may make a deal, and they may not. They may be Russian one day, or they may not be," the US president said.
He also said that he wants Kiev to somehow repay the American aid, which he says amounts to 300-350 billion.
"I told them I want the equivalent of $500 billion in rare earths, and they agreed to do it."
Rare earths are a group of 17 metals used to make magnets that convert energy into motion for electric vehicles, cell phones, missile systems and other electronic devices. And there are no potential substitutes.
A new Russian attack on energy system facilities last night forced the government to impose 'restrictions' on electricity supplies.
A day earlier, President Trump signed 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum, also adding that he is considering extending the measure to cars, pharmaceuticals and computer chips.
By signing the 25 percent tariffs on steel and aluminum, Donald Trump also signaled that he would consider imposing additional tariffs on automobiles, pharmaceuticals and computer chips.
